Frequently asked questions

When will the final registration take place, and how will it work?2025-02-06T14:34:24+01:00

The final registration periods vary from course to course: for registration in the1st year of a bachelor's degree or1st year of a master's degree, the registration calendar is a national calendar, determined by the Ministry.

A link to the Faculty of Education's registration page will be sent by e-mail to the students concerned.

With a few exceptions (see below), registrations can only be made online.

The entire enrolment procedure is paperless: you can enrol yourself from a distance. All required documents and supporting evidence can be scanned and submitted via the PJweb application (link available on the Faculty of Education website).

Payment of registration fees (unless exempted) can also be made online by credit card (secure transaction) or by bank transfer. The Faculty of Education does not accept cash. For payment by cheque, once you have submitted your application and supporting documents online, you will need to make an appointment with the Education Department either by telephone (04.67.61.82.86) or by e-mail (fde-inscriptions@umontpellier.fr). However, you must plan to visit the Montpellier site, which is the only one authorized to collect fees.

Once you've registered, your ENT (digital work environment) will be automatically created: you'll receive an e-mail at the address you gave when you registered, containing a link you'll need to click on within 24 hours. You will then be asked to create your password. You will then be able to download your school certificate.

Once you have paid your registration fees (online or on site - if you are not exempt from paying fees) and all supporting documents have been validated, your student card will be issued and you will be able to download your certificate of enrolment directly from your ENT. The CMS (multiservice card = your student card) will be issued to you at the start of the academic year, on presentation of your ID (for all students) and the original copy of your diploma (for M1 enrolment) or transcript of your baccalauréat (for L1 enrolment).

Exceptions Students who have already been enrolled at the University of Montpellier (whatever the faculty, school or institute) in the past, but who were not enrolled in the previous academic year (interruption of studies or enrolment in another institution for the year 2024-2025), and these students alone, will have to register in person. You will then need to contact the Faculty of Education's Education Department by e-mail(fde-inscriptions@umontpellier.fr). You will be sent a link to the page containing the registration form, the information sheet listing the various documents required, the image rights authorization and, for students under 18, the registration certificate to be completed by the legal guardian. You will need to download these documents, complete them and return them to us by e-mail (to the address given above). You will then be invited to make an appointment to come and pay.

Important : face-to-face registration is only possible at the Montpellier site even if you register at one of the other four Faculty of Education sites.

Why is registration online only?2023-03-14T14:23:11+01:00

The advantages of online registration are numerous:

- it is completely secure, both for personal data and for payment;

- it saves a considerable amount of time and reduces the need to travel, particularly for students selected for the Carcassonne, Mende, Nîmes and Perpignan sites, since identity documents and diplomas are checked directly at the assignment site at the start of the academic year;

- your ENT (Digital Working Environment) is immediately created and your Scol'Pass (school certificate and receipt) is available within 24 hours of activation.

Are the courses offered by the Faculty of Education open to continuing education?2023-03-14T14:24:09+01:00

Yes, our entire range of courses is available as continuing education. The application procedure is the same as for the corresponding initial training, and the Faculty of Education manages all applications. However, candidates should contact the University of Montpellier's SFC (Service commun de formation continue) at the same time as they apply or register, without waiting for a response to their application(s):

Espace Richter

Rue Vendémiaire - Bât. E - CS 29555

34961 Montpellier - cedex 2

Tel: 04 34 43 21 21

Are registration fees the same for continuing education as for initial training?2025-02-06T14:34:56+01:00

No. Students enrolling in initial training must pay registration fees, the amount of which is defined at national level by the Ministry of Higher Education and Research.

Students enrolled in continuing education programs are required to pay a lump-sum fee more in line with the actual cost of a year's university education. This amount may vary considerably, depending on the individual situation and any reimbursements received. The university's continuing education department is your point of contact for all these questions.

How much are the registration fees, and who is eligible for exemption?2025-02-06T14:35:17+01:00

University tuition fees for initial training are set annually by a decree issued by the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation.

They differ depending on whether you are registering for a Bachelor's or Master's year (but are identical for all three Bachelor's and two Master's years). For information, for the 2024-2025 academic year, these fees amounted to 175 euros for a bachelor's year and 250 euros for a master's year. To these amounts must be added the cost of the CVEC (103 euros for 2024-2025).

If you are a French government scholarship holder, a grant holder on social criteria or a ward of the nation, you are exempt from tuition fees and the CVEC.

What is the CVEC, and how much is it?2025-02-06T14:35:41+01:00

CVEC is the Student and Campus Life Contribution. Its purpose is to help create, consolidate and strengthen various services:

This contribution is "intended to promote the reception and social, health, cultural and sporting support of students, and to bolster the preventive and health education actions carried out for their benefit" (article L. 841-5 of the French Education Code).

Payment is made directly to CROUS via the website: cvec.etudiant.gouv.fr

For information, the amount set for the 2024-2025 academic year was 103 euros.

Exempt from this fee are students on scholarships or receiving an annual allowance under the specific annual aid scheme, refugee students, students benefiting from subsidiary protection, and students registered as asylum seekers who have the right to remain in France.

Bursary recipients who have received their conditional bursary award are automatically detected on the cvec.etudiant.gouv.fr website, and can download their CVEC payment certificate once they have completed the online procedure, without paying or advancing the fee.

In addition, if you become eligible for contribution exemption during the academic year, you can obtain a refund of the contribution you have previously paid.

Payment of the CVEC is a prerequisite for enrolment at the University. Whether you are subject to the CVEC or exempt from it, you can obtain a certificate of payment of the CVEC at the end of the process, which must be provided when you register. The university will not be able to finalize your registration without this certificate.

I signed up for one of your training courses, but I finally gave up (resigned): can I get a refund of the sums paid, and if so, when and how?2025-02-06T14:36:44+01:00

As far as the refund of your registration fees is concerned, it all depends on the date of your withdrawal or resignation.

All resignations must be reported to the Schooling Department of the Faculty of Education, which will send you a form to complete, including all the information you need to know if you wish to cancel your enrolment.

If you withdraw before September1, 2025, you will be reimbursed the registration fee by contacting the Faculty of Education's Schooling Department, which will provide you with a form to fill in and return, together with a letter specifying your request, a bank account details and the paid receipt (included on your Scol'Pass). Registration fees will be refunded by bank transfer within a minimum of 2 months.

If you withdraw after September1, 2025, the refund is not automatic, but must be reviewed by an exemption commission. The deadline for returning the refund application is set by the University of Montpellier; for 2024-2025, this deadline was November1, 2024. The exemption commission meets every year in November. To request an exceptional refund, please contact the Education Department, which will provide you with a form entitled "Demande de remboursement exceptionnel des droits d'inscription" ("Request for exceptional refund of tuition fees"). Please return this form with a detailed letter explaining why you have withdrawn from your course, as well as your bank details and receipt of payment.

If the commission accepts your request, you will be informed by post and reimbursed within a minimum of 2 months of the decision being sent to you. If the commission refuses your request, you will be informed by post; no appeal is possible in the event of refusal.

For the CVEC, the procedure is carried out directly online, on the https://cvec.etudiant.gouv.fr/ website.

I've paid my tuition fees and in the meantime I've been awarded a scholarship: can I get my money back, and if so, when and how?2023-03-14T14:27:07+01:00

If you have paid your tuition fees before receiving notification from CROUS that you have been awarded a scholarship, you are entitled to a refund. To do so, contact the Montpellier Faculty of Education's schooling department, which will send you the form to complete and return, together with the corresponding supporting documents.

If you have also paid the CVEC, you can request a refund directly on the https://cvec.etudiant.gouv.fr/ website.
