The Didhum course is aimed at students or working professionals who wish to develop their knowledge and skills in the humanities and related didactics, in French and literature, and in history and geography. The course is designed to gradually specialize and professionalize from the beginning of M1 to the end of M2. M1 includes a majority of core curriculum units (TC), to give students time to discover and refine their choice of path.

M1 DIDHUM: course not open in 2024-2025

Hybrid training in M1 and M2 with distance learning and two compulsory group sessions per year at the FDE in Montpellier.

General objectives

The aim of the course is to consolidate scientific mastery of the issues and different dimensions of the humanities, a concept grasped in its historical, cultural and political dimensions, in relation to the didactics of the disciplines it may cover.

To this end, it considers the humanities and didactics as fields of research and training in their general dimensions, but also in the contexts of education and teaching, as well as in the contexts of cultural policies or mediation.

She questions professional practices, in teaching, training, mediation and research contexts, and analyzes the systems and methodologies developed, as well as the activities of different audiences.

This training enables you to reinforce your skills in the teaching activity itself, and move on to careers in research, expertise or training.

Under certain conditions, the course can also provide a relevant foundation for further study in the 3rd cycle (doctoral research).

Training content

The training content is organized around three axes:
1. Theoretical insights :

a) on issues that cut across educational, cultural and training contexts, particularly schools, as part of the core curriculum in M1.

b) on general didactic concepts, as well as those specific to each disciplinary option.

2. Progressive professionalization, based in particular on the reflective analysis of training, mediation and teaching practices, but also on the appropriation of conceptual and methodological devices, situations and tools, as well as on the discovery of specific professional contexts (notably through an internship) for which the course provides preparation.

3. A research approach based on the conceptual and methodological frameworks developed by the LIRDEF (Laboratoire Interdisciplinaire de Recherche en Didactique Éducation et Formation) in its three areas of research: Savoirs, Pratiques, Didactique (SPD), Éducation politique et société (EPS) and Travail, formation et professionnalités (TFP). For this course, this means:

a) in M1 as part of the core curriculum, with an introduction to research, the use of scientific articles, mastery of concepts and preparation of a research project.

b) in M2, within the specific framework of the DIDHUM course, by writing a dissertation, which involves problematizing an aspect of the profession, constructing a theoretical framework and building up and analyzing field data. This dissertation can be used as a basis for a doctoral project.

This master's degree does not prepare students for competitive examinations in primary and secondary teaching.

Organization

Mainly distance learning in M1 and M2, with the option of grouping the core PIF courses in M1 during the first week of the autumn vacations.

Public

This Master's program is aimed primarily at students and teachers (1st and 2nd grades), trainers, educational advisors, cultural mediators and others working in the cultural and educational sectors, who wish to develop their knowledge and skills in the fields of humanities education and related disciplinary didactics. Its major orientations are therefore as follows:
1. Humanities culture, humanistic culture, heritage culture, digital humanities, school culture and informal culture.
2. Didactics of French and literature.
3. Didactics of history and geography.
