The MEEF master's degree in primary education is offered at the Perpignan (Catalan), Carcassonne (Occitan-Langue d'Oc) and Mende (Occitan-Langue d'Oc) sites of the Faculty of Education, and takes place over two years, with a total timetable of around 900 hours. It comprises around thirty teaching units (UE), enabling students to acquire the multi-disciplinary knowledge and develop the professional skills they need to succeed in the competitive examination and practice their profession.
The Langues Régionales (Regional Languages) course, comprising four UEs in regional languages, enables students to develop the specific skills required for bi-plurilingual teaching in regional and French languages, and to strengthen their linguistic and cultural knowledge in Catalan or Occitan-langue d'Oc.

In the first year, students take part in a six-week "Stage d'Observation et de Pratique Accompagnée" (SOPA) in public bilingual sections, with equal hours in different schools. In the second year, the internship takes up one third of the year, and alternates between responsibility for a class (contract signed with the rectorat) and a practical internship in public bilingual sections with equal hours.
This program, which is aimed at students with knowledge of the Occitan or Catalan languages, aims to achieve CEFR B2/C1 levels in regional languages by the end of the MEEF, enabling them to teach school subjects in language 2.
This optional, complementary diploma course is also a preparation for the CRPE exam, specializing in Occitan/Catalan regional languages.
General objectives
Training to become a bilingual school teacher and preparing for the specific written and oral tests of the special competitive examination for school teachers (CRPE spécial catalan / occitan-langue d'oc) described in the Order of January 25, 2021.
Training content
All elementary school disciplines are explored, including their interdisciplinary dimensions, as well as the teaching of Catalan / Occitan - langue d'oc as a second language.
The Master's degree also offers solid training in general pedagogy, and gives students a better understanding of the organization of the education system and its values.
The Master's program includes training through research in didactics and the sciences of training and education, in conjunction with research laboratories. This training leads to the writing of a Master's thesis in M2 in Catalan / Occitan - langue d'oc, examining the integrated teaching of languages and disciplines in elementary school.
To enroll in the Master's program, students must hold a national diploma conferring the grade de licence, or a validation of prior learning as stipulated in articles L613-3, L613-4 and L613-5 of the French Education Code.
Admission to M1 is based on a review of the applicant's file.
In particular, the results obtained in the bachelor's degree course are taken into account, as well as criteria based on the closeness of the previous career path to the CRPE exams and the profession itself: type of bachelor's degree obtained, pre-professionalization courses, etc.
To enter M2, you must have successfully completed M1 or, in exceptional cases, be able to validate prior learning.
For both M1 and M2, students in the "regional languages" course are enrolled in Carcassonne (Occitan-Langue d'Oc), Mende (Occitan-Langue d'Oc) or Perpignan (Catalan), and those in the FADH course in Carcassonne (Occitan-Langue d'Oc) or Perpignan (Catalan).
The Occitan and Catalan Regional Languages courses can also be followed, after examination of applications by an admissions committee, using a hybrid distance learning system (FADH) alternating face-to-face (two group sessions per semester, SOPA, final exams) and distance learning.
