The PIF specialization is aimed at working professionals who wish to enhance their knowledge and skills in a field or area related to teaching, education or training. To this end, 3 courses are offered in M1 and 3 in M2. M1 includes a majority of core curriculum units (TC), to give students time to discover and refine their choice of course.
This master's degree does not prepare students for the competitive examinations for primary and secondary school teachers.
Hybrid training in M1 and M2, with distance learning and two mandatory
per year at the FDE in Montpellier.
Course description
The SAFIR path studies the development, evolution and transmission of Knowledge, and questions the different conceptions of Learning. It aims to build training skills linked to engineering practices, as well as to the analysis of situations integrating the real activity of players in the teaching and educational training professions as closely as possible. The trainer's identity and professionalism are built up within a community of practice through research and the implementation of training research initiatives.
Backed by various fields of research in education and training science, this course mobilizes a multidisciplinary team of teachers and teacher-researchers.
General objectives
This course is designed for continuing education and certification of professional skills. Following validation of the Master's degree, it is also possible to pursue a doctorate. The aim of this program is to enable professionals in education, teaching and training to progress within their own institution or in other institutions. It can also open the door to a career in research in the field of education and training.
Training content
Training content focuses on :
- Theoretical insights into the elaboration, evolution and transmission of Knowledge (including disciplinary knowledge and skills, didactic and inter-didactic know-how, etc.) in educational training professions, from epistemological, historical, didactic and methodological perspectives.
- Questions about the design, management, support and evaluation of training courses. The perspective adopted is that of training engineering practices, initial and continuing, university and institutional, integrating the question of the trainer's actual activity.
- And a personal research process leading to the production of a thesis based on a training issue, supervised by a tutor and shared with all students during research seminars.
Organization
Designed to be followed while maintaining a professional activity, the training is based on several systems:
- Face-to-face teaching at the Fde in Montpellier for 3 weeks in M1 and 2 weeks in M2, spread over the autumn, winter and spring school vacations, as well as a few Wednesdays throughout the year;
- Distance learning supported by a digital platform providing access to a range of resources: training activities, course documents, bibliography, exchange mechanisms, etc;
- Observations in the workplace in M2.
- Group work.
- Optionally, a complementary internship in a professional training environment
- A research seminar throughout the course;
- Individualized support from a tutor to help you prepare your dissertation.

Access conditions
Access to the program (in M1): Hold a L3 or equivalent qualification. Submit an application (letter and CV) based on an interest, project or actual experience in the training professions. Access to the course may also be subject to validation of professional experience on presentation of a dossier (VAP85). Access to M2 is possible for people with solid training experience.

All applications will be examined by a commission. Answers will be communicated to all applicants from Monday June 2, 2025. As with Parcoursup, you can either be admitted, put on the waiting list or rejected. If you are admitted, you will have a period of time in which to accept or reject the admission offer. If you are definitively accepted, all other offers that may be made to you are cancelled. Full information on this subject is available on the Mon Master portal.
Candidates on the waiting list will be called as and when they drop out.
No ranking on the waiting list will be communicated to interested parties.
All responses will be sent to candidates via the Mon Master platform.
You will be notified directly of the procedure for your final registration as soon as you have accepted an offer of admission to the master's program.
Applications (also known as pre-registration) will be open from Tuesday February 25 to Monday March 24, 2025, for all our Masters programs.

The approach is identical for each of the five courses in this Master's program.
Registration is a two-stage process: first, you need to submit an application via the Mon Master portal; a link to this application is already available on our website, in the "Registration" section.
To support your application, you'll need to submit a cover letter detailing your background and career plans, as well as a CV, via the Mon Master portal.
The MEEF Master's in Training Practice and Engineering offers four distinct courses:
- Didactics of the Humanities (DIDHUM) ;
- Inclusive education and practices - Ordinary class (EPI-CO) ;
- Inclusive education and practices - special education (EPI-ES) ;
- Knowledge, learning, training, identity, research (SAFIR).
The "Education et pratiques inclusives - Classe ordinaire (EPI-CO)" and "Education et pratiques inclusives - enseignement spécialisé (EPI-ES)" tracks are differentiated only in the 2nd year of the Master's program. The 1st year (M1) "Education and inclusive practices" is common.
