Legacy from the DSDEN de l'Hérault to Cedrhe of old administrative bulletins tracing the life of the School since 1886

On Tuesday March 7, the Faculty of Education welcomed Christophe Mauny, DASEN de l'Hérault, in the presence of Philippe Augé, President of the University of Montpellier, and Agnès Perrin-Doucey, Director of the Fde, to formalize the Legacy of the DSDEN de l'Hérault of former primary education bulletins from the Hérault department to the CEDRHE, the Centre d'Etudes et de Recherche en Histoire de l'Éducation.

More than 250 volumes of administrative and primary education bulletins from the Hérault department between 1886 and 1960 have been entrusted to the CEDRHE's Director, Sylvain Wagnon, University Professor of Education, and will now be accessible to researchers and students.

Stored at the Inspectorate of Education for over 60 years, fulfilling a legal obligation that has long since expired, it is a witness to society that could have disappeared.

Through these documents, regulations, circulars and other school curricula, we are able to examine the history of everyday life, with articles detailing the practice of the profession, as well as national history, to understand the evolution of our society through the evolution of the profession.

It's the story of a local history that brings together the anecdotal nature of material organization, such as a very official discount granted by Balaruc's baths to the academy's staff, or the school principal's obligation to keep the garden of his lodgings impeccable, with the larger story of the Vichy government's dismissal of Jewish schoolteachers in 1940, or the names of schoolteachers who died in the two world wars.

Our students, from bachelor's to master's level, will be able to reflect on the evolution of society through articles detailing the correct dress required at school at the beginning of the last century and the questions of secularism raised today, a theme that is deeply rooted in the values of the Fde.

This collection will not only enrich the theses of educational researchers, but also shed light on our society and the values on which it has been built.
