On March 18 and 19, the Faculty of Education hosted the following conference at its Montpellier campus:
“Transition versus Bifurcation. Individual and Collective Actions: How to Interpret and Understand the World today ?”
Organized as part of the Long-Term Thematic Project “Entrepreneurship – Innovation – Sustainability,” led by Jean-Marie Courent, these meetings explore contemporary transformations at the intersection of the humanities and social sciences, engineering, the arts, and public engagement.
At the Fde, education is not limited to imparting knowledge: it is about understanding the world, developing critical thinking, and fostering the ability to take action.
These events fully embody this ambition by placing the social, cultural, and educational dynamics of transitions at the heart of our discussions.
They also highlight the essential role of the humanities and social sciences at the University of Montpellier: disciplines in their own right, with their own scientific focus, and indispensable for understanding the transformations of our societies.
Because understanding how societies learn and transform is at the heart of the educational sciences, the FDE is fully committed to these reflections.
