Bike Month 2026: A month to get into cycling… for life!

As part of its commitment to the green transition and sustainable mobility, the University of Montpellier is once again participating in the national event May on Bikes, which will take place from May 1 to 31, 2026.

A truly unifying and friendly highlight, May on Bikes aims to promote existing initiatives related to cycling. Last year, many of you took up the challenge, covering a total of more than 13,000 kilometers!

Throughout the month of May, the university community is invited to (re)discover the benefits of cycling, both for the environment and for health and well-being.

A cycling challenge to take on

Throughout the month, a mileage challenge will add excitement to the event. The six cyclists who cover the most kilometers will receive prizes. In addition, a raffle will give other participants the chance to win a prize, thereby recognizing their commitment to sustainable mobility.

With the Géovélo app, you can easily track your distances and trips to contribute to the challenge. Simply download the Géovélo app, create an account if necessary, and then join one or more communities (such as your parent institution, the University of Montpellier, as well as your department and/or research lab). Once registered, every kilometer you ride will be automatically added to the counters for your various communities. To record a trip, simply open the map and tap the red button to start tracking your distance. When you arrive, tap the stop button to confirm your trip, and you’re all set.

Let's go!

Through this initiative, the University of Montpellier is reaffirming its commitment to promoting more sustainable mobility. Whether you’re an experienced cyclist or a beginner, “Mai à Vélo” is the perfect opportunity to get started, improve your skills, and adopt new habits… for your daily commute.

The Fde is gearing up!

Committed to promoting sustainable transportation, the School of Education continues to upgrade its facilities at the Montpellier campus. Already equipped with a secure parking area for bicycles and scooters, the campus now features a bike repair station and a self-service tire inflation station. This marks another step toward encouraging sustainable daily commuting.

This facility was built as part of the ALiVE project (Improving Student Living Environments), launched by the University of Montpellier in 2020 and funded by the CVEC.
