Storytelling Day – Perpignan: An Immersion in the Art of Storytelling

On April 9, 2026, the School of Education hosted a storytelling day dedicated to oral tradition, creativity, and cultural outreach. This educational and artistic event brought together students, professional storytellers, and students from local schools.

Throughout the day, students presented readings and storytelling performances prepared as part of their coursework, showcasing their skills in public speaking, mediation, and communication. These sessions were enriched by the presence of five professional storytellers, who were invited to share their world and expertise through a series of presentations. This alternation between student productions and artistic performances offered the audience an immersive and varied storytelling experience.

Four classes of students listened attentively to the storytellers and students who performed throughout the day: two kindergarten classes, one third-grade class, and one EANA class.

The day was organized around several highlights: storytelling sessions spread throughout the morning and afternoon, informal gatherings featuring open-ended activities, and a roundtable discussion at the end of the day focused on storytelling and physical expression. The event was designed to be educational, cultural, and participatory, fostering dialogue among students, teachers, artists, and young audiences.

Throughout the day, the students developed skills essential to their future careers: public speaking, group management, adapting to different audiences, and presenting knowledge effectively. The storytelling day was thus fully in line with the Faculty of Education’s philosophy, which emphasizes sensory, artistic, and experiential approaches to learning.
