On Thursday, March 19, 2026, third-year undergraduate students from the Faculty of Education’s Mende campus organized a biathlon event in collaboration with the Lozère branch of the USEP.
The students welcomed 54 third-grade students from Del Castillo (Mende), Laubert, and Rouffiac schools to the Piencourt gymnasium in Mende.
After designing throwing workshops, the future elementary school teachers focused on giving clear instructions, supervising the students’ activities, and making instructional adjustments to ensure that every student could successfully complete their throws.
Taking advantage of the lunch break to reorganize the gym, the students set up a mixed-team biathlon for teams of four. After training the young referees, the event kicked off.
Mindful of safety concerns, they focused their efforts on establishing a time for students to discuss and share their thoughts. The goal was to engage students’ cognitive skills through cooperation in order to develop everyone’s motor skills.
This day, which focused on health and civic engagement, allowed all the teams to grow together.
The students had defined “success as progress,” and they were able to congratulate all the students on their individual and collective achievements.
Once again, the dedication and commitment of our undergraduate students deserve recognition.
This experience should serve as a foundation for the new recruitment exam for elementary school teachers.
