Every year for the past 28 years, the Regards sur la Ville photographic mission has been documenting the city of Nîmes and its inhabitants through the production of visual and audiovisual works of art.
This new edition sets out to discover a recurring phenomenon: the transitory states of certain places undergoing urban reconfiguration.
Our city is constantly changing, and has been for centuries. It accumulates layers upon layers, and if masterful traces of ancient times have survived, what will remain of the contemporary era? The city mercilessly erases many spaces, disfiguring the existing urban fabric or replacing it.
All that will survive of these transformations and architectural elements, some of them quite remarkable, are images.
In this way, our photographic mission Regards sur la Ville takes on its full meaning and provides a documented and precious memory for the future.
