Chili 50 ans, images d'une transformation sociale is a project created by curators Patrice Loubon and Alexis Diaz Belmar to commemorate the fiftieth anniversary of the death of Salvador Allende and the subsequent military coup in Chile on September 11, 1973. It aims to generate a narrative from the photographic image of the social and political process of transformation that took place in Chile between 1973 and 2023.
Focusing on visualizations of the memory of dictatorship, public demonstrations that took place during dictatorship and democracy, and the recent social explosion of 2019, we intend to recall a history. The event features five exhibitions, an intervention in the public space and a cycle of documentary flms. The program takes place in the cities of Nîmes, Arles and Avignon.
The Faculty of Education at the Université de Montpellier site de Nîmes, partner of the event, is hosting the exhibition "1983-2018 Dictatorship, democrats, the market and the first malaises".
