Student night event "Fabre n'est pas couché" (Fabre isn't sleeping): our M2 MAC students involved in a unique collaboration between the Fabre Museum and MO.CO

As part of their training, our Master 2 MAC students carried out a supervised project in partnership with MO.CO., focusing on the Student Night on February 12, 2026, entitled "Fabre n'est pas couché" (Fabre is not asleep). Their mission was to conduct an audience study and assist in the evaluation of this edition, which was marked by a major change: for the first time, the event took place simultaneously at the Fabre Museum and the MO.CO.

This unique configuration gave rise to a particularly rich program, supported by a diversity of artistic and academic groups. Throughout the evening, visitors were invited to move between the two venues, discovering performances, installations, participatory activities, and musical offerings designed by students from a variety of fields: visual arts, performing arts, design, cultural mediation, and musicology. The event thus offered an immersive experience, where different forms of expression responded to each other in a constant dialogue between heritage and contemporary creation.

At the Musée Fabre and MO.CO, the projects on offer transformed the spaces into testing grounds. Visitors were able to take part in interactive installations, reinterpret the works, experiment with new sensory approaches, and discover sound, stage, and visual creations. The presence of actors such as Radio Campus, local artistic groups, and creative schools reinforced the collective and cross-disciplinary dimension of the evening.

Master 1 MAC students also actively contributed to this dynamic by designing participatory mediation activities that encouraged visitors to engage with the works and venues. These initiatives helped to renew the relationship with the collections and exhibitions by inviting the public to become active participants in their cultural experience.

In this context, the work carried out by our M2 MAC students focused on analyzing how audiences participate in this expanded, multi-site program. Their study aims to better understand the effects of this new configuration, marked by the opening up of the visitor experience, the diversity of artistic formats, and the direct involvement of students in cultural production.

By accompanying MO.CO's first integration into the Student Night, our students helped document a significant evolution in the event. The 2026 edition marks a milestone in the development of new forms of collaboration between cultural institutions and higher education, paving the way for new formats of mediation and engagement with student audiences.
