An ecological, educational, and collaborative project

A new chapter is beginning in Perpignan with the creation of an eco-site led by the Faculty of Education and funded bythe University of Montpellier as part of the COMP – TED Équip call for projects.

The President of the University officially inaugurated the start of construction, marking an essential step in the sustainable transformation of the site.

An ecological and experimental space at the heart of the campus

The eco-site was designed by Ohya Paysage, a firm specializing in ecological planning and sustainable landscape design.
The campus garden will become a veritable open-air laboratory, designed to:

  • promote biodiversity,

  • optimize the management of natural resources,

  • create shared spaces that promote well-being,

  • encourage collective practices and campus life.

This space aims to be welcoming, educational, and environmentally friendly, in line with contemporary climate and social issues.

As part of this greening initiative, a new pergola has recently been installed, along with four kiwi vines and four Palais Petit grapevines.

These plantings will eventually provide natural vegetation and shade for the campus's outdoor spaces, reinforcing the project's ecological ambitions.

A project at the crossroads of research, education, and ecological transition

The eco-site is fully in line with the site's educational and scientific mission. At the inauguration, Antonin Boyer presented the research and education component, which aims to:

  • support students in exploring new educational practices,

  • develop innovative approaches to ecological transition,

  • combine theoretical learning with practical experience in the field.

The eco-site thus becomes a medium for study, observation, and creation for many different subjects.

Master's 1 students at the heart of the project

As key players in the campus transformation, Master's 1 students presented their work carried out as part of the EU Projects, which is directly related to the development of this new space.

Their proposals actively contribute to the implementation of the eco-site, demonstrating the rich connection between university education, professional practices, and environmental issues.
