Faculty of Education students at the heart of inclusion through sport

The Tuesday April 8, 2025as part of the Jeux des Antonins organized at the Halle des Sports Ludivine Furnon in Nîmes, students in the Licence Pluridisciplinarité et métiers de l'Enseignement de l'Éducation et de la Formation at the Faculté d'Éducation (Nîmes site) took charge of a day dedicated to sport and inclusion, under the guidance of their EPS teacher Arnaud Compan.

Aimed at CE2 pupils as well as children from ULIS, IME and ITEP programs, this event illustrates the concrete commitment of future teachers to promoting equality and diversity.

This day, co-organized with the city of Nîmes and the departmental committees for adapted sport and disabled sport, is part of the "Generation 2024" label. It also represents a formative stage for the students, who designed and led sports workshops adapted to all profiles. From welcome to opening ceremonies and supervision of activities, the students were present at every step of the way, skilfully supervising teams of able-bodied and disabled children.

Previously trained in adapted sports, handisport and ULIS, future teachers have designed activities combining physical practice, cooperation and discovery of disability. Through their commitment, they gain practical experience of the challenges of inclusive schooling, while developing solid professional skills.

The opening ceremony, orchestrated by the students, set the tone: a parade of teams, flag-raising and a collective flashmob marked the start of a colorful day.

Through their involvement, they illustrate the pedagogical choices they have made for their training, where student activity, inclusion, citizenship and sport go hand in hand.
